Loton Park has been an essentially gay and lesbian tennis club since 1995. We are not exclusively gay and lesbian – we don’t ask! We just expect people to be relaxed and accepting about everyone’s sexuality – not a bad idea for society in general, actually.
We are the only gay and lesbian tennis club in Australia, if not the world, with our own club facilities.
We are located on the corner of Lord and Bulwer Streets in East Perth which is in the City of Vincent – a local government area just outside Perth CBD. We lease our courts and clubhouse from the Town of Vincent. We are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Club. We employ a professional groundsman and the grass courts are in great condition as a result.
Loton Park Tennis Club is incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987 (WA) and it is managed by Management Committee. Loton Park is also affiliated with TennisWest, which organises club tennis in Western Australia, and with Tennis Australia.
Because most of our courts are grass, our main playing season operates from about early October to late June each year (this is known as our summer season) – the exact dates depend on the weather and the state of the courts.
During the summer season we provide organised social tennis (doubles and mixed doubles) on Saturdays from 1pm until about 5pm.
We also have a variety of teams competing in TennisWest Tennis League competitions in summer.
